Accessibility Webinars and Workshops

The CCC Accessibility Center conducts webinars, vendor demonstrations and twice-annual workshops for the California Community Colleges System. Presentations and handouts from the workshops are typically posted following an event. To ensure relevancy of content, not all handouts from previous sessions are available.

Summer Workshop - Tuesday, June 11, 2024

The one-day workshop will run from approximately 9am to 4pm. with a break for lunch. Morning sessions will focus on topics relevant to Section 504 compliance, and afternoon sessions will focus on topics relevant to Section 508 compliance. Register for the Summer Workshop.

Introduction to Braille Workshop

Session Description: This session aims to provide attendees with an overview of braille fundamentals. Learn the essential braille components through structured demonstrations and explanations! We will be reviewing the braille alphabet, numerical system, and common symbols. Join us as we explore the world of braille and its importance in promoting accessibility and inclusivity.

What’s In and What’s Out in Assistive Technology - New and Advancing Trends

Session Description: In this session, learn in what ways the assistive technology industry is rapidly evolving. What is in? Inclusion: Language, images, and audio are more inclusive of persons with disabilities using modern individualized techniques. What is out? Static Solutions: Gone are the days of one-size-fits-all assistive tools. Static solutions are being replaced by dynamic, personalized approaches that adapt to individual requirements.

Integrating Accessible ICT Reviews into Procurement Processes

Session Description: Learn how to integrate ICT accessibility considerations into existing procurement processes. This session will highlight real-world examples and best practices that address each aspect of the ICT procurement lifecycle, including pre-purchase processes, accessibility evaluation activities, and accessibility requirements for Purchase Orders and Contracts.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Accessibility, and Equity

Session Description: There is no “typical” student; how can we design learning experiences that meet varied student needs? Using accessible design as a foundation, universal design for learning (UDL) can help us build resources that are flexible enough to engage a diverse group of learners. UDL includes giving students various ways of acquiring information, engaging with the content, and demonstrating understanding.

Inclusive by Design: Creating Accessible Events and Communications

Session Description: Learn how to integrate accessibility into every stage of both in-person and virtual event planning. This session will explore the significance of disability inclusion in event organization, provide best practices to ensure equitable participation for all attendees, and offer guidance on creating accessible presentation and marketing materials to effectively promote your event.
